So which is right — grab the keys to a rental and drive yourself, or step into a private car where someone else takes the wheel? There is no universal answer. For some trips self-drive is genuinely the better call. For most airport arrivals and day trips around Bangkok, a private driver is the calmer, and often cheaper, choice.
