Trat to Koh Chang — the car ferry

Koh Chang is reached by car ferry from two piers in Trat province: Ao Thammachat and Centre Point. These are drive-on ferries, so our vehicle boards the boat with you inside, crosses to the island in roughly 30–45 minutes, and drives straight off at Koh Chang's Ao Sapparot pier — you never touch your luggage.

The ferries run frequently through the day, roughly every 45–60 minutes from early morning to evening, so there is rarely a long wait. And because it is a car ferry, the crossing is already included in the fixed fare we quote — there is no separate passenger ticket to buy and nothing to arrange at the pier.

Once on the island, we continue by road to your resort — whether that's White Sand Beach, Klong Prao, Kai Bae or the quieter south. It really is one car, door to hotel.

“First time in Bangkok and dreading the airport taxi scrum. Instead the driver was waiting past the Gate 3 doors with a name board, took my trolley, and the price was exactly what I'd agreed on WhatsApp — no meter, no toll surprise. In the car with cold water within ten minutes of clearing immigration.”

“Wir sind direkt vom Flughafen nach Ban Phe gefahren und sie hatten die Fähre nach Koh Samet schon mitgeplant. One fixed price for the whole car, the driver knew exactly which pier and boat, and stopped once so the kids could stretch. So much easier than dragging suitcases through a bus station.”

“Прилетели ночным рейсом в Дон Мыанг. The flight was 90 minutes late and I panicked, but they were tracking it and the driver simply waited — no extra charge. Clean Camry, clear fixed fare in baht agreed in advance. Именно то, что нужно после долгого перелёта.”

Bangkok to Koh Chang FAQ

How do you get from Bangkok to Koh Chang?

The easiest way is a single private transfer, door to island. We drive you the ~320 km from Bangkok (or Suvarnabhumi / Don Mueang) south-east to the ferry piers in Trat — about 4.5 hours by road — then the car boards the car ferry and crosses to Koh Chang in roughly 30–45 minutes. Total time is around 5 hours and it is all one fixed fare from ฿3,700, so you stay in the same vehicle the whole way.

Is the ferry included in the price?

Yes. Unlike an island where you buy a separate passenger-ferry ticket, Koh Chang has a car ferry — so our vehicle drives straight onto the boat with you inside, crosses, and drives off on the island. The car-ferry fare is already built into the fixed price we quote. There is no extra ticket to buy at the pier and nothing to organise yourself.

How much is a taxi from Bangkok to Koh Chang?

The fixed fare, car ferry included, is ฿3,700 for a car, ฿4,600 for a six-seat Innova, ฿4,600 for a Fortuner, and ฿5,200 for a nine-seat minivan — per vehicle, one-way, all-inclusive of fuel, tolls and the ferry. Split between a group it compares well with the bus-plus-ferry combination while being far faster and fully door-to-door.

It's a long drive — is it comfortable?

It is our longest mainland route at about 5 hours, but a private car makes it easy. You travel in one air-conditioned vehicle with a licensed driver, we can stop for food, a coffee or a leg-stretch on the way, and there is no changing between a bus, a terminal and a boat with your luggage. Families, couples and anyone arriving off a long-haul flight find it far less tiring than public transport.

Can you collect me straight from the airport?

Yes. This is a popular airport-to-island run — we meet you at Suvarnabhumi (BKK) or Don Mueang (DMK) arrivals with a name board, load your bags, and drive you the whole way to Koh Chang, ferry included, so you can be on the island the same day you land. We track your flight, so an early or delayed arrival is handled automatically.
