The boat leg

Ban Phe pier to Koh Samet by ferry

From Ban Phe there are two ways across. The scheduled passenger ferry takes about 40 minutes and costs roughly 100–200 THB per person return — cheap and steady. A speedboat does it in about 15 minutes for more, and runs later into the evening, which is handy after a delayed flight.

Ferries leave from the main Ban Phe piers (Nuanthip, Saphan Nuanthip, Tarua Phe). We drop you right at the pier so you can walk straight to the ticket window and catch the next boat — no working out where to park or which soi the pier is on. Once on the island, songthaews meet the boats for the ride to your beach.

“First time in Bangkok and dreading the airport taxi scrum. Instead the driver was waiting past the Gate 3 doors with a name board, took my trolley, and the price was exactly what I'd agreed on WhatsApp — no meter, no toll surprise. In the car with cold water within ten minutes of clearing immigration.”

“Wir sind direkt vom Flughafen nach Ban Phe gefahren und sie hatten die Fähre nach Koh Samet schon mitgeplant. One fixed price for the whole car, the driver knew exactly which pier and boat, and stopped once so the kids could stretch. So much easier than dragging suitcases through a bus station.”

“Прилетели ночным рейсом в Дон Мыанг. The flight was 90 minutes late and I panicked, but they were tracking it and the driver simply waited — no extra charge. Clean Camry, clear fixed fare in baht agreed in advance. Именно то, что нужно после долгого перелёта.”

Bangkok to Koh Samet FAQ

How do you get from Bangkok to Koh Samet?

Koh Samet is an island, so the trip is two legs: a road transfer from Bangkok (or its airports) to Ban Phe pier — about 220 km and 3 hours — then a short passenger ferry (about 40 minutes) or speedboat (about 15 minutes) across to the island. Our private car covers the road leg door-to-pier at a fixed ฿1,900 and up; you buy the ferry ticket at the pier.

How much is a taxi from Bangkok to Koh Samet?

The fixed private fare to Ban Phe pier is ฿1,900 for a car, ฿2,300 for a six-seat Innova, and ฿3,000 for a nine-seat minivan — per vehicle, including fuel and tolls. Split between a group it is comparable to the bus while being far faster and door-to-door.

How much is the ferry to Koh Samet, and where does it leave?

Ferries and speedboats leave from Ban Phe piers (Nuanthip, Saphan Nuanthip and Tarua Phe are the main ones). A return passenger ferry is roughly 100–200 THB per person; a speedboat is faster but more expensive. Boats run through the day; the last scheduled ferry is usually late afternoon, with speedboats available later. We drop you right at the pier so you can catch the next boat.

Is it better than the bus or minivan from Ekkamai?

Public buses and minivans from Bangkok's Ekkamai terminal are the cheapest option but run to a timetable, stop en route, and leave you to reach the terminal first with your luggage. A private transfer picks you up at your hotel or the airport, goes non-stop, and is much easier for families or after a long-haul flight.

Can you collect me straight from Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang?

Yes. This is a popular airport-to-island run — we meet you at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang arrivals with a name board and drive you directly to Ban Phe pier, so you can be on the island the same day you land.
